The fandom isnt even close to dead, there are still so many fans enjoying this game as it is, new people come in as well and a lot of games that came out yearss ago with no new updates still have dedicated fandoms to this day (ie yume nikki)

I came for the beautiful art this game has, the visuals are undoubtedly very pleasing and elaborate. but I HAD to quit because the story sucks. oh my god, I couldn't stand how boring and cliché this is. it's unnerving. the puzzles are stupid and everyone sounds edgy. not even the gourgeous art could make me stay. very disappointed.
