What is this game?

What you see here is the prototype of “Vincent: The Secret of Myers” created in 2017. Due to popular demand, I have decided to upload it to itch.io. It is a game created with RPG Maker MV and is currently only available in Simplified Chinese. Please play “Vincent: The Secret of Myers” before downloading this game.

Do you have any plans to translate this game?

I am not sure at the moment, but I am leaning more towards No. If I have to be honest, I'd rather people play “Vincent: The Secret of Myers” and not this game. I am personally not a big fan of this game myself, and it was not originally part of my plan to make it available to download. Don’t get me wrong, the game does have pros as well! However, I believe it no longer represents my characters and myself.

Why do you not like this game?

There are both objective and subjective reasons. In my opinion, the game's puzzle-solving is poorly designed, the story is confusing, the characters feel flat, and a lot of things are not explained clearly. Subjectively speaking, I believe this game does not represent my skills as a game designer or writer. In the past, a lot of players chose to play this game first, did not like it, and decided that they would not give “Vincent: The Secret of Myers” a try, which really saddened me. 

Is the game still canon?

No. Although I did make a few references to this game in “Vincent: The Secret of Myers” for the older fanbase, the game is no longer canon. I see the current“Vincent: The Secret of Myers” as the revamped version of this game. When making deductions or coming up with theories of “Vincent: The Secret of Myers”, I do not recommend players associating its plot with this game, as it could be quite misleading. I have seen many players associate Chapter 4 with one of the endings of this prototype (possibly to seek comfort), but this is not accurate.

Do you allow reuploads of your game?

No. If you have “Vincent: Phantom of G4” shared in your group chat, your server, your website or on your personal drive, please take it down. The only games that I allow reuploading at the moment are fan-translated versions of Therapy with Dr. Albert Krueger. Thank you for your understanding.

Do you allow fan translations of this game?

No, please do not make a fan-translated version of this game without my permission. If you would like make a google doc detailing what happens in the game and share it with other people, that is okay. I will also appreciate it if you make it clear in the doc that the game is no longer canon. However, I do not allow making or uploading or recording a separate fan-translated build of this game without my permission.
